SASS speaks as needed about the reality of suicide through our speaker’s bureau. We distribute written facts based on educational information free of charge to the public and other agencies as requested. We support community initiatives by working with SAPP (Kansas City Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program) in an effort to increase school outreach programs to decrease teen suicide. We also collaborate with the media every chance we get to promote that "Suicide is Everyone’s Business." If you or your group would like more information on our speaker's bureau or to schedule a presentation, please contact any of the people below via phone or email:

What is QPR?

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer—3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people are trained in CPR and the Hemlich Maneuver people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR is a simple educational program that teaches ordinary citizens how to recognize a mental health emergency and how to get a person at risk the help they need. It is also an action plan that can result in lives saved. Because suicides happen in families to co-workers, friends, acquaintances, emergency interventions are important.
  • SASS can offer your group, business, or organization a free one hour gatekeeper training by a QPR certified trainer.
  • Why? SASS believes that “Suicide is everyone’s business.” Contact SASS to find out more information and schedule
